About

Our Mission

OrganicSEO.org is an independent publication covering ethical, white-hat, organic search engine optimization. We believe every site owner, marketer, and small business deserves clear guidance on how to earn search traffic honestly — by building things that deserve to rank.

The site began in the mid-2000s as a community wiki and an open “Organic SEO book” for practitioners. Over nearly two decades it has been cited across the web as a primer on the fundamentals: how search engines actually work, how to research keywords, how to structure URLs and pages, and how to build links that don’t break when Google updates its algorithm. This is our modern continuation of that project — evergreen guides, plainly written, free of fluff and free of shortcuts.

What We Cover

  • Fundamentals — How search engines work, what organic SEO is, and how it differs from paid search
  • Keyword Research — Finding queries real people search for and mapping them to content you can actually produce
  • On-Page SEO — Titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, and the structure of a crawlable page
  • Technical SEO — URL design, canonical tags, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals, crawl budget, and fixing what’s invisible
  • Image & Media SEO — Compression, lazy loading, alt text, structured data, and Open Graph
  • Link Building — Earning citations through useful content, digital PR, guest posting done right, and partnerships
  • Measurement — Search Console, analytics, rank tracking, and the metrics that actually matter
  • What We Avoid — PBNs, link wheels, spun content, hidden text, cloaking, and every other black-hat tactic that looks cheap until it isn’t

Our Approach

We lead with how things actually work, cite primary sources (Google’s own documentation, published studies, named practitioners), and write for people who want durable results — not a ranking this week that evaporates next month. Our editorial standards prioritise accuracy, accessibility, and staying on the right side of Google’s published guidelines.

If you’re looking for “how to rank #1 in seven days” or “30 free high-DR backlinks,” this isn’t that site. If you’re looking for SEO that compounds over years, you’re in the right place.
